Anyone else here have an inordinate crush on this man? Yeah, me too. A longstanding, swoony crush of enormous magnitude. My longstanding, swoony crush on this woman does, occasionally, overtake it, however.

That is all. Just enjoying my Sunday morning with Mister Entertainment. :)

Sulky out.

In which I 'splain m'self

Mornin'. Just enjoying a little Alex Chilton and my cousin's coffee on a fine Saturday morning in my new digs, and thought to myself, talk to the peoples. The peoples, they enjoy the talkin' to. Yes? Yes. You do. I tell you story now, where I was, and things. Okay joe.

So not everyone knew this, but I was kinda actually trapped under something heavy...my own brainpan. Not because my brain is soooo much bigger and smarter than y'all's (uh, that's fairly clear), but it got pretty heavy last year, all laden down with stupid fretting and depress-y stuff. There were a few things going right, but more was going wrong, and I got trapped in a spot where I just didn't want to write.

You wouldn't have wanted to read a blog full of fretting and depress-y stuff from me, I promise. It isn't that I couldn't think of anything to say, or that I couldn't've pretended to slap on a happy face and blog cutesy stuff, but it seemed like work instead of a pleasure. Since my intention here is to amuse and entertain myself and others, it ran counterintuitive to this goal to be posting a buncha shit like "ohh my family is making me insane" and "ohh I gotta get a job" and "I gotta move the hell away from here" and shit. See? Yes. Not much fun, that.

But things are improving, internally and externally, I am in much better physical surroundings, in a much improved mood and frame of mind in general, and I feel like writing again. I know taking a big break like that also runs counterintuitive to the idea behind blogging--I know I get frustrated when there's not fresh meat hanging up at my favorite blogs, and I wish too that some people would post more. But I just never wanted this blog to be a daily catalog of my whinings. Therefore, breaky time. I'm just glad some of you still come to see me! Hug? Ahhh. Now that's what I'm talkin' about. I am sorry I've fallen out of touch, but hopefully can rectify that here now: drinks're on me!! (See, I know how to get your attention.)

So that's that for now. Next time: boyfriend and new digs pix, hey? Yeah! Have a fabulous day, folks. I'm off to buy some knitting needles and yarn. Don't tell me nothing exciting never happens in this town. :)

xoxo Sulky

From deep inside my underground lair...
01.11.05 (6:45 pm)   [edit]

...comes more goofiness, direct to you, my patient readers.

The jokey explanation: I was trapped under something heavy.

The actual explanation: soon. Honest. No one died or anything, I just took a break from fling fling!, and I knew when I felt like writing again, I would. By the way, how're these colors comin' atcha? Unbelievably, I got sick of the green.

Although upon writing that, it occurs to me: uh, hey, Sulky. Everyone wasn't just sitting around waiting for YOU to come back, they went on with their lives! More power to 'em! Ya snooze, ya lose!

You bitches. :D

No, actually, I have lotsa blog writin' and readin' to do--gotta catch up! Find out what's been going on with a lot of you, as I also fell off reading personal blogs a lot, there. Meanwhile, here's an excerpt of an email to a friend about my own haps:

"I am settling into the frozen arctic wasteland that is the friendly, beer-swilling city of Milwaukee. I am pacing myself. That is the key. But I do intend to try every freaking beer they got here. That should take years. Meantime, am simply enjoying peace and solitude, and making new pals, and being elsewhere. I love a fresh start! This was loooooooooooong overdue. Have several job leads, a couple of them library-related.

I've got the top floor of a house--nice-sized kitchen with island, a pantry, an office, a good-sized bedroom, a huge dining room, and a cozy living room that opens onto a rooftop porch with a railing. Weee--container gardening in spring! Plus, the guys who own the place, two brothers about our age, have a kickass backyard with a garden--and I'm allowed to have a chunk of it to garden in. Yay!

I live in a cute neighborhood called Bay View, that's almost right on Lake Michigan. Within walking distance is delicious coffee, a bakery, awesome cafes, about a momojilion bars and pubs, and excellent record-shopping. The lake is so enormous that you cannot see land in any direction. I took tons of pix the other day, after a bigass ice and snowstorm. It's gorgeous; all icy polar-y blue and slate grey. Will send ASAP.

Honestly, I can say that being on the lakefront reminds me of looking out on Puget Sound. That makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

Boyfriend is slated to move here in the spring sometime, hope that goes according to plan! you'd like him--he, too, appreciates monkeys, and the occasional fine and tasty hops-infused adult beverage for grownups."

Will fill in the blanks bit by bit, and will provide visual aids as well. I wasn't any busier than anyone else for the latter half of this year, although there were lots of things going on, but I just haven't felt like writing about any of it till now. It's nice to be back. I missed you! Take care.

xoxo Sulky

Hey. I'm back. Again. I know--whoop de doo, she'll be gone again tomorrow, this is just a tease...well, if I may entreat you to come back tomorrow, you may be surprised. Thank you for your patience; all will be explained shortly.

Okay, maybe not ALL. I'm not omniscient. Yet.

Happy 2005! Here's hoping it's good for all of us. Because of course, I had been hoping each new year would just suck royally. Maybe that's been the problem...?

Also, please excuse my crummy temp header--it's holding the place for a pic of an amazing-looking frozen Lake Michigan. Yep, it's freaking winter here in Milwaukee. But oh so beautiful!
